Leigh-on-Sea named UK’s happiest place to live – again

The Essex town of Leigh-on-Sea has been named the happiest place to live in the UK for the second time in three years.

The seaside town topped the Rightmove Happy at Home Index, pushing Farnham in Surrey into second place and leaving the Welsh town of Monmouth in third place.

Residents reveal their happiness factor

The top five is rounded out by Christchurch in Dorset in fourth and Leamington Spa in Warwickshire in fifth.

The Happy at Home Index quizzes residents in 219 areas across the UK on how happy they are with where they live based on 12 factors.

Those factors range from how friendly the neighbours are, how safe residents feel, how good local services are and the quality of cultural activities and green spaces around the area.

More than 21,000 people took part in the 2018 Rightmove Happy at Home Index.
